Adega de Redondo, founded in 1956, brings together approximately 200 producers across 2,262 hectares. It represents over 75% of viticulture in the Redondo sub-region and is one of the largest and most dynamic cooperative wineries in Portugal. Adega de Redondo is recognized in Portugal and worldwide, notably through the Porta da Ravessa brand, which has become a true ambassador for the quality and authenticity of Alentejo wines. On average, Adega de Redondo produces around ten million liters of wine per year. Modern and well-equipped winemaking and bottling facilities make the most of grape quality under the supervision of our young but highly experienced oenologist, Mariana Cavaca. The presence of the Serra d’Ossa to the north and east is decisive in the quality of grapes and wines produced at Adega de Redondo, allowing for a more balanced ripening and, consequently, the production of lemony, very fresh, and aromatic white wines, as well as very pleasant and supple red wines to be consumed young. Additionally, it allows for the production of more structured and concentrated wines with good aging potential.
The climate of the Redondo sub-region is particularly suitable for the development of sustainable viticulture based on biodiversity and environmental protection. Adega de Redondo encourages these practices among its members, thereby contributing to the production of more authentic and environmentally responsible wines. This is why it has joined the Alentejo Wine Sustainability Program. Adega de Redondo wines are made from traditional Alentejo grape varieties such as Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, or Castelão, as well as white grape varieties like Roupeiro, Fernão Pires, Antão Vaz, Rabo de Ovelha, or Arinto. However, Adega de Redondo also embraces innovation, encouraging the planting of high-potential grape varieties in this region, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Syrah for reds, and Verdelho, among others, for whites.
