The Domaine Carrette is a family-run vineyard located between Vergisson and five neighboring villages, covering 16 hectares of vines. Managed by Hervé for vineyard management and Nathalie for winemaking, the estate is dedicated to producing exceptional white wines. Since 2020, the domaine has been in organic conversion, with plans to achieve certification in 2023. This eco-friendly approach includes the use of natural fungicides, careful management of phytosanitary risks, and a focus on sustainable practices throughout the vineyard.
Environmental respect is at the heart of the domaine’s philosophy. Vineyard management includes practices like avoiding herbicides and chemical fertilizers, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation, and paying close attention to each detail of the harvest, with picking done by parcel to preserve the diversity of the terroirs.
Winemaking varies by plot, with grapes harvested at optimal times to guarantee both quality and aging potential. This precise process results in a diverse range of wines, from fresh and fruity offerings to more complex ones that can age for many years. Wines like Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for periods ranging from 6 to 24 months, depending on the cuvée.
The domaine also offers guided tours and tastings by appointment from Monday to Saturday, giving visitors the chance to experience the estate’s expertise and sample a selection of wines right from the source.
In summary, Domaine Carrette blends tradition and innovation with environmental respect, offering visitors a high-quality wine experience while showcasing the unique characteristics of the Mâconnais region.
