With 25 years of experience developing our wines from the Southwest in Quebec, I’ve had the opportunity to understand the challenges of this important market for French wines. After collaborating with excellent agencies in the 2000s, I’ve noticed a dual phenomenon since 2010: an acceleration in the concentration of major agencies for big brands and, simultaneously, the emergence of small agencies focused on restaurants and niche products.
The BMT team, through the vision, commitment, efforts, and ambition of its founders, Laura & Manfred, is one of the very few agencies to have positioned itself between these two trends and thus created real opportunities in the market for distinctive wines, tailored to the tastes of Quebec consumers but with true development potential. I am convinced by their strategy and delighted to have made the decision to join them in 2020!
Long live BMT!

Lionel Osmin & Cie : a teamwork in a unique region

The Lionel Osmin & Cie group was created with the aim of establishing a quality wine merchant focusing on the wines of the Southwest, a project that had never been realized in this region before. Emphasizing the discovery of the unique grape varieties and terroirs of the region, Lionel and his associates, a group of friends united by their love and passion for Southwest wines, have become the cross-cutting signature from Jurançon to Cahors, from Gaillac to Bergerac, and through Marcillac.

They highlight indigenous grape varieties such as Tannat, Mauzac, Fer-sarvadou, Len-de-l’el, Négrette, Manseng, thus giving the wines incomparable accents of authenticity, satisfying the palates of all wine enthusiasts: sparkling, light reds, age-worthy reds, dry or sweet whites.

Due to their agricultural and agronomic backgrounds, the group’s partners aim to produce the healthiest wines possible while minimizing their impact on the environment. The region, exposed to a climate with more abundant rainfall than other French or even foreign regions, makes it difficult to achieve 100% organic agriculture and certification. Therefore, since 2018, the group has created a Research and Development position with the objective of ‘zero residue’ both in wines and in soils. They thus support their collaborating winemakers in an ambitious project that links concern for efficiency and quality with concern for the environment.

Following the same logic where each of their actions commits them, they have chosen to encourage their various suppliers in the heart of their territory, in order to preserve local employment and reduce their carbon footprint on their purchases and travels.

They are also actively involved in reforesting the Landes forest through their tree planting project linked to the sale of their wines (12 bottles sold = 1 tree planted), in addition to being committed to various cultural and social causes to ensure that viticulture is synonymous with the future!
