The origins of the name NAVERAN date back to 1840 when Pablo Parellada, a worker in a paper mill, sailed to Buenos Aires as a representative of watermarked paper, used at the time for official documents. Years later, he returned to Barcelona, having made a fortune in America and having visited Mr. Onofre de Naveran, Marquis of Guernica, who accepted his proposal to marry his eldest daughter. After the marriage, he returned to Buenos Aires, but his pregnant wife fell victim to yellow fever. Deeply upset by her death, he sold all his belongings in Buenos Aires and returned to Spain to announce the sad news to his father-in-law. His father-in-law proposed that Pablo marry his younger daughter.

This marriage gave birth to a son, Pablo Parellada de Naveran, who married Antonia Olivé. This marriage, in turn, gave birth to a daughter, Antonia Parellada de Naveran, who married René Gillieron. They had a unique son – Michel Gillieron Parellada de Naveran.

Cavas Naveran was founded in 1984 by Michel, a businessman and oenologist well-versed in the land of Penedès, who decided to promote a project deeply rooted in the land of his ancestors while maintaining his traditional family culture prevalent.

Naveran is the surname of a family dedicated to vine cultivation and the production of artisanal and organic wines and cavas, using a micro-fermentation system so that consumers can enjoy products where the grapes have been worked from the vineyard with the maximum effort and sustainability possible.

Their cellars are located on the Can Parellada estate (Torrelavit) in the heart of Alt Penedès. As vine growers and winemakers, cultivating the vines and making the wines, controlling every stage of grape growth and quality, and using innovative blends of their own varieties, these cellars stand out from others in the region.

The “Denominación de Origen Penedès” (Penedès Designation of Origin) is the main wine tourism destination in Spain.

Naveran uses strict organic methods to treat its vineyards: it does not use pesticides or herbicides. It only uses organic fertilizers and, in case of excess rain, allows the grapes to fall naturally to ensure the quality of its harvest. Remaining true to the artisanal philosophy of its ancestors, it personally cares for each vine so that every grape cluster produced benefits from perfect ripeness. In its constant pursuit of the highest quality, Naveran is also a strong advocate of innovation.

At Naveran, we aim to continue our commitment to creating organic wines and cavas with our characteristic terroir, from the vineyard, cellar, and winery, producing products of the highest quality.
