The origin of Viña Olabarri lies in the love and respect for wine that Pablo Olabarri Bikandi instilled in his family. Pablo’s enthusiasm for wine was born during the long periods he spent in Haro, the capital of La Rioja, when he was young.
In 1985, this love transformed into the acquisition of a 19th-century cellar in Anguciana, an optimal place for aging wine. This was the starting point of a family business that has always been close to the customer. His son, Luis Olabarri, managed to maintain this closeness to the customer while betting on the expansion and modernization of the winery facilities with the acquisition in 1989 of new premises capable of accommodating around 4,000 barrels and a cellar for aging more than 800,000 bottles.
Over these nearly forty years, Viña Olabarri has distinguished itself in the production of high-quality wines, with exceptional recognition for its Reserve and Gran Reserva wines. The size of the company allows for detailed care in the production and selection of vineyards close to the winery, reaffirming the affection and patience with which the essence of Rioja Alta is bottled.
